The Proposal

It’s not every day you turn 25. It’s not also everyday that you get engaged either. Here is a recap of the happiest day of my life so far. Richard and I decided to spend my birthday doing all the things we love to do. One of those things is picnics. We drove to abalone cove. He took me there in 2008 when we first became best friends, he took me to the same cliff on our very first date as an official couple, and he took me there to propose. I had absolutely no idea. We did what we always did, laugh, eat, and sing along to music. The weather was absolutely perfect. We picked a spot overlooking the ocean on a bench. The place was so lonely, we were the only ones in sight. It made it that much more special. After we were done eating he asked me to go look at the ocean with him. He pointed at a distance where people were standing on the bottom of the cliff. I concentrating and thought Richard was concentrating too. I looked back and Richard was down on one knee with a small box in his hand.

The item in the box sparkled more than anything I have every seen. My heart sunk, my knees got weak, and before he could say a word, I cried. They were tears of complete happiness. I dreamt of this day, I wondered how it would happen, how I would react and here it was all happening. He said,“On this day you were born and on that day you were made for me”. He vowed to take care of me, to love me, and promised I had nothing to worry about because he loved me more than anything. I was in complete bliss. For a moment my whole world stopped. I couldn't hear anything but his voice, I couldn't feel anything besides my heart beating, and the only thing I could see was tears in the eyes of the man I love with all my heart. I hugged him while he was still down on one knee and he looked at me and said, “will you marry me?”. I said, “of course!!!!”. And we cried together and hugged. We finally had a moment to breathe and he put the ring on my finger. It fit perfectly. He proceeded to tell me that the center diamond is one of a kind from a mine in Canada where no two diamonds are alike. I still can’t believe that all of this happened. I am in the clouds and never want to come back down. Richard has made me the luckiest woman alive. I get to marry my best friend.

XOXO, The future Mrs. Montes
